Accessibility Statement

Strength & Solidarity LLC intends BellusTowne to be usable by everyone of lawful age, including Citizens who navigate by keyboard, screen reader, magnification, voice control, or switch device. This statement says plainly what we have achieved, what we have not, and how to get help in the meantime.

1. Our standard

We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. BellusTowne is presently in partial conformance: most of the site meets the standard, and the exceptions are named in section 3 rather than hidden. We do not claim full conformance, because we have not had an independent audit and we will not assert what we have not proven.

2. What we have done

• Semantic structure. Pages use real headings, landmarks, and a single main region, so a screen reader can be navigated by structure rather than by guesswork.
• Keyboard operability. Interactive controls are reachable and operable by keyboard, with visible focus indicators. Dialogs and menus are built on accessible primitives that manage focus and announce themselves correctly.
• Contrast. Text colours are drawn from a fixed token palette chosen to meet AA contrast against their backgrounds, rather than being hand-picked per page.
• Text alternatives. Meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative flourishes are hidden from assistive technology so they do not add noise.
• Motion. Animations respect the operating-system reduce motion preference where it is set.
• Sound is never required. The Hearthsong and all ambient audio are optional, are never auto-played at volume, and carry a visible control. No information is conveyed by sound alone.
• Colour is never the sole signal. Status, error, and success states carry text or an icon in addition to colour.
• Forms. Inputs have associated labels, and validation errors are announced in text next to the field rather than by colour alone.

3. What is not yet fully conformant

We would rather list our failings than let you discover them:

• The Coliseum theatre. Combat is presented with heavy motion, floating damage numbers, and rapid state changes. Reduced-motion is honoured, but the surface is not yet fully described to screen readers. Match results, standings, and purses are all available as plain text elsewhere in the Coliseum.
• The Chronicle. The game chapters are a visual, timed experience and are not presently operable by screen reader alone. The prose of every chapter is published in text form so no part of the story is gated behind the game.
• Complex data boards. A few Founder-facing and Constabulary boards use dense tables and charts that are readable but not yet ideally announced.
• Third-party surfaces. Payment checkout is rendered by our payment processor. We have chosen a provider that publishes its own accessibility conformance, but we do not control that markup.
• User-supplied content. Portraits, wares, and creator uploads are described by the Citizens who post them. We require alternative text where we can and correct omissions when they are reported.

4. The age gate

BellusTowne is an adults-only town, and every visitor must attest to being eighteen or older before entering. This gate is a legal requirement, not an accessibility barrier: it is a standard form, reachable by keyboard, labelled for screen readers, and it does not rely on colour, timing, images, or sound. If the gate is nonetheless unusable for you, write to us and we will assist directly.

5. Assistive technology

BellusTowne is built to work with current versions of NVDA and JAWS on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, TalkBack on Android, and browser zoom to 200% without loss of content or function. We test in current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

6. Tell us where we failed

If any part of BellusTowne turned you away, write to accessibility@bellustowne.com. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you use if you are willing. We commit to:

• Acknowledge within 5 business days.
• Provide either a fix or a written plan with a date within 15 business days.
• Offer an alternative means of access in the meantime — including a human who will perform the task with you — for anything you cannot complete yourself.

We do not charge for accommodation, and we do not require you to disclose a diagnosis to receive one.

7. Formal complaints

If our response does not satisfy you, you may escalate to legal@bellustowne.com, and you retain every right available to you under the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508, the European Accessibility Act, or the law of your own jurisdiction. Writing to us first is welcome but is not a condition of any right you hold.

8. Review

This statement is reviewed at least annually and whenever a major surface ships. It was prepared by self-evaluation; an independent audit is planned and will be published here when complete.
