Dark editorial oil painting: a brass herald's trumpet draped in deep wine-red silk rests on a heavy oak table beside a rolled vellum proclamation tied with gold cord and weighted by a wax seal bearing a stylized B, with a bronze laurel wreath and candlelight from the left fading into shadow.

Bellus Day

The herald's trumpet, the sealed proclamation, and the laurel that waits upon the Grand Champion.

By Decree of Her Ladyship, Lady Bellus

Bellus Day

Once each year, the Lady proclaims a Tourney of Skill. Entrants submit a work of their own making; a panel of three judges weighs each work upon a published rubric; and on Bellus Day the Grand Champion is named.

The Champion's Purse

Two percent (2%) of every sale within BellusTowne — Treasury wares, Cinema, Radio, Atelier commissions, Market Square, Guild dues — is earmarked by Strength & Solidarity LLC into the Champion's Purse, from which the Bellus Day prize is paid. The Purse is the Towne's own money set aside for the winner of the Tourney; it is not a pot of entrant money, and no portion of any entry-related action funds it. Entries are free.

The Spirit of the Tourney

A judging that any Citizen may trust

This is not a drawing. There is no ticket. There is no chance. Every entrant is judged upon the same rubric, and the rubric is published before the gates of entry are opened. Citizenship in BellusTowne is not required to enter — Wayfarers and friends of the Towne are welcome alike. No purchase, dues, subscription, or coin confers any advantage whatsoever in judging.

See the full Rubric, Judges & Rules before submitting thy work, and read the past Champions in the Hall of Champions.
