A Votive Inscription, not a Wager
Toss a coin into the Well — five denarii — and inscribe a brief wish upon the public ledger beneath the lanterns. There is no prize. There is no draw. No one wins. The Well keeps every coin so that the lanterns may stay lit. A candle, not a lottery.
The Towne keeps every coin. The five-percent Towne Toll is built into the price. The Constables read the ledger and may remove any inscription that breaks the Charter.
